Rosa Chang is a Korean American artist, illustrator, educator, and founder of Rosaful Garden Studio and Indigo Shade Map. Her work explores the relationship between humans and the natural world through materials, process, and storytelling. Drawing inspiration from plants, traditional craft, and cultural heritage, she creates across painting, illustration, natural dye, paper, textiles, and community-based projects.

Her current practice centers on sharing the cultural significance of Korean and Asian natural dye traditions while exploring how art can foster ecological awareness, cross-cultural dialogue, and meaningful connections with nature. Through exhibitions, workshops, public programs, and collaborative projects, she invites audiences to engage with the natural world through creativity and slow, hands-on making.

Rosa teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York. She is also the creator of Indigo Shade Map, an international educational initiative connecting natural dye practitioners, gardens, museums, and communities around the world. Previously, she served as Executive Director of Hand Papermaking, Inc., where she supported the global hand papermaking community through publications, educational programs, and collaborations.

In May 2023, Rosa published her award-winning debut picture book, My Indigo World, which she both wrote and illustrated. The book was recognized as a 2023 New York Public Library Best Book and a 2024 NSTA–CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book. It was also selected for the Texas Topaz Nonfiction Reading List, the 2024 CCBC Choices list, Bank Street College of Education's Best Children's Books of 2024, and Maryland's 2024 "Great Reads from Great Places" selection for the Library of Congress National Book Festival.

은 자연과 인간의 관계를 재료, 과정, 그리고 이야기를 통해 탐구하는 한국계 미국인 작가이자 일러스트레이터, 교육자이다. 식물과 전통 공예, 문화유산에서 영감을 받아 회화, 일러스트레이션, 천연염색, 종이, 섬유, 그리고 커뮤니티 기반 프로젝트 등 다양한 매체와 형식을 넘나들며 작업하고 있다.

현재 로사는 한국과 아시아의 천연염색 전통이 지닌 문화적 가치와 지혜를 현대적인 시각으로 재해석하며, 예술을 통해 생태적 감수성과 문화 간 교류, 그리고 자연과의 깊은 연결을 만들어가는 작업에 집중하고 있다. 전시, 워크숍, 교육 프로그램, 협업 프로젝트를 통해 사람들에게 자연을 창의적이고 손으로 직접 경험하는 방식으로 소개하고 있다.

메릴랜드 예술대학 (Maryland Institute College of Art, MICA)와 뉴욕 스쿨 오브 비주얼 아트(School of Visual Arts, SVA) 에서 강의하고 있으며, 전 세계 천연염색 연구자와 정원, 박물관, 장인, 지역사회를 연결하는 국제 교육 플랫폼 쪽빛지도 (Indigo Shade Map) 의 설립자이다. 또한 국제 핸드메이드 페이퍼 전문 비영리 기관 핸드 페이퍼메이킹(Hand Papermaking, Inc.) 의 전무이사를 역임하며 출판, 교육 프로그램, 국제 협업을 통해 전통 및 현대 수공예 종이 문화의 발전에 기여하였다.

2023년에는 직접 글을 쓰고 그림을 그린 첫 그림책 《My Indigo World》를 출간했다. 이 책은 2023 뉴욕 공공도서관 올해의 어린이책, 2024 NSTA–CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book, 텍사스 토파즈 논픽션 추천도서, 2024 CCBC Choices, Bank Street College Best Children's Books of 2024, 그리고 미국 의회도서관(Library of Congress) National Book Festival 'Great Reads from Great Places' 메릴랜드 대표 도서로 선정되는 등 국내외에서 큰 호평을 받았다.
